Field Trip to Tobago
As a student of Estonian University for Life Sciences I will join a field trip of Napier University to Tobago
Schedule – Tobago May 28 – June 12, 2009

Thur - Fly to Tobago
Settle into Castara
Fri - Buccoo Reef - 11:00 tour – introduction to coral reef organisms
Grafton – introduction to native fauna and flora – disturbed habitat
Sat - Pigeon Point mangroves survey
Arnos Vale – coral reef organisms, hummingbird feeding (bird ID)
Sun - Castara Waterfall – rainforest habitat and animals
Castara – Introduction to coral survey techniques
Englishman’s Bay Englishman’s Creek (rainforest Stream ecology)
Evening – local attractions
Mon - Scarborough museum (Amer Indians, History of Tobago)
Scarborough Botanic Gardens – Plant ID
Englishman’s Creek - Amblypygids evening
Tues - Gilpin Trace (Rainforest - Dawn walk)
Main Ridge (Rainforest Trail afternoon)
Englishman’s Creek or Main Ridge - Amblypygids evening/ night
Wed - ArgyleWater Fall – ecotourism cooperative
Prince’s Beach; King’s Bay Beach
Leatherback Turtles (evening / night)
Thu - Day off
Fri - Grafton - Dawn bird survey
Individual projects / Coral surveys / Amblypygids / Questionnaires
Sat - Mon
Projects / Coral Surveys
Amblypygids or Turtle Watch evenings (as desired)
Tues - Little Tobago
Amblypygids (evening / night)
Wed - Englishman’s Bay or Individual Projects or Little Englishman’s
Barbeque PM
Thur - Morning free to pack
Daily Kit: You should always carry water, suntan lotion and a sunhat (if needed). In addition snorkelling gear and / or boots will be needed most days, the following days activity will be discussed at the evening meal and you will be reminded at breakfast to confirm where we are going and what is needed.
